Review: Eternal Neverland: Steps Before the Fall by Natasha Rogue

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.

Blurb: Helena K. Sharpe was raised by a man who had sympathy for supernatural creatures, for the vampires his bloodline hunted for centuries. She was too young to understand how he tried to help them, but she knew it was important. Her father made her promise never to hunt them and she would do anything to keep that promise.

Until he is murdered by the very things he dedicated so much of his life to.

Orphaned and alone, Helena takes to the street, afraid for whatever’s left of her life. Without her family, she doesn’t know how–or even if–she can go on. Until a vagrant takes her under his wing and gives her a purpose. Revenge.

For six years she learns about the monsters, studies their habits, until, at 15 years old, she feels she’s ready to find the ones responsible for her parent’s death. All she has to do is become one of them. She’s cute, young, innocent…

They’ll never see her coming.

Natasha Rogue is an excellent story teller! Eternal Neverland: Steps Before the Fall is a spectacular read! Helena is a great protagonist who grows up before our eyes. I never knew quite what to expect from her. One second I would think “Thank god! She finally gets it!” And then she would do something so awful I had to step back and regroup. Helena has revenge in her head and she will stop at nothing to see it through. She is a very complex young woman. She has no fear of consequences, and lives by the terms… “it’s better to ask for forgiveness, then to ask for permission.”  As the story goes on Helena begins to realize that not all Vamps are bad. She lives with a few that are not only great looking, but would lay down their lives for her’s.

Throughout the journey we get to meet the forever responsible David, and oh so sexy bad boy Charlie, both of whom are Helena’s sires. David is infatuated with Helena, as her sire he feels desire toward her, but he keeps himself in check (most of the time). In the beginning, David had to literally stop himself from going to Helena, whether it was to protect her, or just be with her. As the book goes on David starts to see Helena for what she is. A revengefull young woman, in terrible need of guidence.

Charlie confused me. He is supposed to be the bad guy but he really grew on me! He is a very complicated  character, and Rogue does an excellent job portraying him throughout the book.

Jack. Jack. Jack. He may be my favorite. Ladies watch out Jack is the kind of man that jumps into your heart, and then right into your bed! He is one of those characters who is impossible NOT to love! He really stood out above the rest for be. He is loyal to a fault, sexy as hell, and isn’t afraid to get dirty while fixing every problem Helena faces. He is so good to her, but I feel like love is blind and that’s exactly what he is when it comes to Helena!

We also get to meet Ice, the triplets, Tommy, Russell, Raven, and the rest of the gang leaders and members around NYC. Its an interesting view on how Vamps would split up territories amoung themselves.

Natasha has a very out- of- the- box take on Vampires and their sires, their rules and regulations, and love. Let me tell you it is brilliant! This book was magic! I couldn’t put it down! It captured me in and spit me out at the ending, with nothing but a need for more! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the paranormal, and needs a new take on vampires that will blow your mind!

Review: Forbidden by Selene Charles

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Lop or Lovers of Paranormal.

Forbidden was excellent! Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down. I mean it’s 4 a.m. and I am currently mind blown writing this review.  Selene Charles is such a great writer and she keeps you interested from page 1. I think it’s such an interesting twist to have the back story be about a circus, I have never seen that before. And that is just one of many differences between this book and others of this genre. The whole story was different from anything I have ever read, in a good way!

Flint is used to moving around alot. After settling into their new town, Flint and her father arrive at Carnevale Diabolique. As an excarnie Flint’s dad needs a job, and what better way then to rejoin a circus. But this place is different from any circus Flint has have seen. While wondering around Flint sees Cain, the pain-in-the-ass-bad-boy from school. He has a hot temper and is quick to let Flint know what he thinks of her. But the more he pushes her away, the more Flint feels attracted to him.

As the weeks go by Flint starts to see that all isn’t as it seems at Carnevale Dibolique, or even in her new little town. For there are monsters among them and they are out to get Flint.

With the help of Cain, his sweet brother Abel, Rhi, and Janet Flint must figure out who and what is stalking her. As Flint and Cain get closer, and he finally reveals his secrets, Flint realizes she may be in over her head.

Can Cain protect her from the monsters seeking her out? Or will his own monster inside get the better of him?

Flint was a great protagonist. She was strong, resourceful, witty, and so funny! The interaction between her and Cain was so believable. I felt at times like I wanted to jump in the book and smack Cain, but as they got closer, I found him indearing. I can NOT wait to see what happens! That was certhinly one HELL of a cliff hanger!

I recommend this book to all lovers of Paranormal and YA books!

Review: Unseen by Amber Lynn Natusch

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I don’t know where to start…Unseen is amazing! Amber Lynn Natusch has done it again! She is one hell of a storyteller and world builder. While all of her books are unique and excellent in all ways, the Unborn series really stands out. It is different from every other book out there, in that it is everything an epic series should be! From Greek mythology to modern day ass kicking, gods and goddesses to angels and Dark Ones, unsavory paranormal creatures, and the defending hero’s that belong to a brotherhood. Unseen was definitely “born” of genius!

Khara has returned to the Underworld seeking answers on who and what she is. With the help of Oz, a newly turned Dark One, she must find out why so many secrets have been kept from her. While trying to navigate the circle of lies and deception surrounding her she finds all is not well in hell. Along her journey Khara comes across the most fearsome people in the Underworld and must decide who she can and can not trust. However, even those she believes are on her side are not what they seem. As Oz spirals deeper into darkness, Hades starts to lose control of the Underworld, and Khara and her brothers suffer a devastating loss, Khara realizes her answers must go on the back burner. For she must save those she holds dearest.

Unseen is action packed and kickass. Khara has come a long way in dealing with her never before had, emotions. As she starts to gain her powers, born to all the PC, we get to see a different side of her. It almost like watching a child learn to figure out his/her feeling for the first time.

Oz is as frustrating as ever, but ooh so sexy as always. He to is going through his own changes throughout Unseen. As a Fallen Angel, recently turned Dark One, Oz is on a downwards spiral. He is a little scary in this book, compared to Unborn he has done a 180° turn around. Although he is as distant as ever, he does show his feelings for Khara in his own unique way. Mostly by brooding and sarcasm, but he does show some emotions. Its getting to the point where their relationship needs to pick up!  Seriously…can they hook up already!?!

The brothers are all in Unseen as well. As hot, protective, and entertaining as ever! Whike we do not see Drew and Pierson as much, we do see a lot of Casey and Kierson.  Casey’s character gets a lot more explanation this book. Where he came from and who is mother is is finally divulged. Kierson is as sweet as ever, and really stands up for Khara multiple times throughout Unseen. He really is a loyal and loving brother!

I really enjoyed this book and I am so excited to see what happens next! I would recommend this book to everyone! (If you don’t like it, you have issues haha)
